Adam Jankowiak
Lead Estimator/Project Manager
What drives you professionally?
The threat of failure is my best motivator. Clients, coworkers, and subcontractors deserve 100% effort from me and that is what I strive for.
What drives you personally?
To be the best dad and husband that I can be.
Why did you choose to work at MDL?
I was looking for a new challenge and have always wanted to work in Bay City.
How would you describe the culture at MDL?
There is a sense of comradery and teamwork that allows all of us to work towards a common goal.
What’s the best part of working at MDL?
The culture and main office location in downtown Bay City are the things I enjoy the most about MDL.
What’s something big you want to accomplish at MDL?
I came to MDL with a goal of stabilizing and growing the construction division. I want MDL to become one of the premier construction companies in the area.
What do you want your legacy to be?
My legacy isn't something that I often consider. While it would be nice to be remembered for taking the company to new heights, I am more focused on the teamwork aspect of my job, as well as empowering those around me to be successful.

Matthew Geiger
Assistant Property Manager
What drives you professionally?
I enjoy solving problems and helping people. When I am presented with a problem at work, I try to look at it from different perspectives to figure out the best solution for everyone involved and do my best.
What drives you personally?
My end goal from a personal perspective is to create a life where I am able to spend as much quality time with my family and close friends. People are the most important, and sometimes you don’t realize that until it is too late. It can be as simple as making dinner with my wife or a quick 18 with the boys.
Why did you choose to work at MDL?
MDL offered a great opportunity to allow me to reach both my personal and professional goals. I could see throughout the interview process that their culture was authentic and genuine. It is fun to be part of a team that is doing great things in the Great Lakes Bay Region and beyond!
How would you describe the culture at MDL?
MDL has created and cultivated a culture that is family-focused, fun-oriented, and will prime you to achieve your goals. We have access to leadership training, 1 on 1 coaching for both professional and personal development, group classes and so much more. MDL gives us the tools to be successful and provides us outlets for fun along the way. Culture is easy on paper, but to execute it can be very challenging especially long term. MDL’s culture is the real deal.
What’s the best part of working at MDL?
The people. We celebrate each other's wins and put our heads together when we need to solve a problem.
What’s something big you want to accomplish at MDL?
It is exciting to see where this company is headed. I love Downtown Bay City and am excited as we continue to re-develop and re-imagine our block. I want to help create a vibrant and exciting atmosphere that encourages people to visit and stay. Taking a once vacant building and getting it back to a vibrant space is what I want to accomplish.
What do you want your legacy to be?
I want my legacy to be pretty simple. I hope that things are better when my time is up than when my time began.

Jarod 'J.R.' Stoutenburg
Marketing Lead
What drives you professionally?
To be able to build and mold a marketing department from my own strategies and ideas.
What drives you personally?
To provide for my family. My goal is to provide a comfortable lifestyle while maintaining that work/life balance to build healthy relationships.
Why did you choose to work at MDL?
The opportunity came open to fill a need that MDL had at the time. Over time, my role had slowly morphed into one that I am excited about furthering. I have stayed here because I believe in the growth potential long-term.
How would you describe the culture at MDL?
Hard-working but balanced. There is a great work/life balance. Everyone is expected to get their work done while also maintaining that healthy balance.
What’s the best part of working at MDL?
The culture and work environment. MDL works with you through different methods (leadership classes, professional/personal development, etc.) to give you the tools to find your own solutions. MDL didn't have a marketing strategy/program when I started, so I've been given the freedom to experiment and try my best approach, which doesn't just benefit MDL, but also refines my skills as a marketing professional.
What’s something big you want to accomplish at MDL?
To build a successful marketing department. I want to have my fingerprints not only on the marketing success of MDL, but on the success of the company as a whole.
What do you want your legacy to be?
I want my legacy to be simple- to have had a positive impact on people's lives and to make a difference in my community. If those can be accomplished, it's a life well-lived.

To be able to make a living while having balance still and having the ability to make a real difference in the community.
How would you describe the culture at MDL?
A family atmosphere where even across the divisions we are able to work together to try to achieve both work and personal goals and encourage one another and able to help each other out when needed.
What’s the best part of working at MDL?
Having balance and not having everything have to do with trying to make as much money as possible, but working with others with the goal of trying to help the community in what ways we have to offer.

One where I was able to turn income from projects into help fund programs that help children with learning disabilities to get help they need so they can continue on with those skills and be able to affect others lives in their lines of work they choose to go to, and for them to understand that they are not limited because of it.

What drives you professionally?
To give the clients, subcontractors, and my co-workers a 100 percent of what I have to offer. I need to know the drawings and contracts better than anyone. I believe the client, subcontractors, and co-workers deserve that much! This is your chance to shine (of course in a humble way). Play the part: 100 % Integrity, even when nobody is looking, dress professionally, act professionally, use the knowledge of what I have learned in the field (over 30 plus years ), through training, and education.
What drives you personally?
Every day is a brand-new day! I have a chance to make the new day better than yesterday. I always try to be a steward of kindness! Try to lift someone up if they are having a bad day or week. I have learned through my professional career that sometimes the act of just listening can make such a difference.

I was looking for a new challenge. MDL
as we know it currently, is in its infancy. I wanted to be able to help MDL grow, the possibilities are endless!

The Bay City Office is extremely laid back. I don’t have the stresses of a fortune 500 company. There is a strong cohesion with the TEAM, everybody works well together.
What is the best part of working at MDL?
I would have to say the awesome culture and the location of the office in downtown Bay City.
What is something Big I want to accomplish while at MDL?
To be able to make a differences in the Great Lakes Bay Region and beyond. While driving down the road you can say “I helped build that building”. You have left a footprint in the community, for the positive. Helping someone accomplish their personal or professional goals.

This is something I have Never thought of. Yes, it would be awesome to be remembered for taking MDL to a new level: a common name synonymous with premier buildings. I can only say that whatever my legacy is after I’m
gone, I hope I’m remembered for being a kind and helpful individual.
